  2. Add rinsed moong dal, rice, vegetables, water, tomato, turmeric, and salt to a pressure cooker. Cook until soft.
  3. Whisk or mash lightly so the dal becomes even but still has a little texture.
  4. Heat the ghee in a small pan. Add the tempering spices and let them crackle.
  5. Add ginger-garlic and the extra tempering ingredients. Cook until aromatic without burning.
  6. Pour the hot tempering over the dal and mix well.
  7. Pour the ghee tempering over the khichdi, mix gently, and adjust with hot water if you prefer a softer texture..
