- Rinse the toor dal well and soak it if required.
- Cook the toor dal with water, tomato, turmeric, and salt until completely soft.
- Whisk or mash lightly so the dal becomes even but still has a little texture.
- Heat the ghee in a small pan. Add the tempering spices and let them crackle.
- Add ginger-garlic and the extra tempering ingredients. Cook until aromatic without burning.
- Pour the hot tempering over the dal and mix well.
